My goal isn't just to take beautiful photos, it's to help make your wedding day feel calm, organized, and intentional so you can be fully present with the people you love.

This page will answer many of the questions that come up throughout the planning process, and I'll continue updating it with helpful resources along the way.

Your Engagement Session

Your engagement session is such a fun part of the wedding experience! It gives us a chance to get comfortable working together before your wedding day while creating photos that feel like you two. Here are a few things to keep in mind as we start planning:

Choose Your Vibe

Start by thinking about how you want your photos to feel. Romantic and coastal? Green and outdoorsy? Timeless and architectural? Casual and playful?

Knowing the overall vibe you're drawn to will help us choose a location that fits your vision.

When Should We Schedule?

I recommend scheduling your engagement session about 3–5 months before your wedding. If you're planning to use the photos for save-the-dates, invitations, your wedding website, or anything else with a deadline, we may want to schedule a little earlier.

Choosing the Right Season

Southern California gives us beautiful options almost year-round, but every season has a slightly different look. Spring tends to be greener and softer, summer is perfect for warm beach sessions, and fall gives us beautiful golden tones.

If you have a specific look in mind, let me know and I can help you choose the best time of year!

The Best Time of Day

Whenever possible, I recommend scheduling your session closer to sunset. This gives us that beautiful, soft golden light you see throughout my work.

The exact start time will depend on the season and location, so I'll help you determine the best time once we choose your date and location.

What to Expect

Most engagement sessions are around one hour long. Sometimes we may finish a little sooner, and sometimes we may go slightly over depending on the location, lighting, and how the session is flowing—but you can plan for approximately one hour together.

I'll guide you throughout the session, so don't worry about knowing how to pose or what to do in front of the camera. My goal is for it to feel relaxed, natural, and fun!

Client-Favorite Locations

A few locations my couples love:

  • Mission San Juan Capistrano — Romantic, timeless architecture with beautiful gardens and historic details.
  • Crystal Cove — Coastal, romantic, and perfect for dreamy sunset photos.
  • Carbon Canyon Regional Park — Green, natural, and perfect if you want an outdoorsy feel.

What Should We Wear?

The best outfits feel like you while also complementing each other and your location. You don't need to match—think coordinated instead!

Colors That Photograph Beautifully

Neutral, earthy, and muted tones tend to photograph best:

Cream • Beige • Tan • Brown • Olive • Rust • Soft Blue • Muted Pink

These colors are timeless, photograph beautifully with my editing style, and work especially well with Southern California's beaches, greenery, and architecture.

A Few Things to Avoid

Neon or extremely bright colors

Busy or distracting patterns

Large logos or graphics

Matching each other exactly

Dress It Up a Little

Your engagement session is the perfect excuse to wear something a little more elevated than your everyday look!

Flowy dresses photograph beautifully and add movement, while suits, button-downs, jackets, and dressier shoes can instantly elevate your photos.

Most importantly, choose something you feel comfortable and confident in.

Use these as inspiration—you don't have to recreate them exactly!
